Staff Product Engineer

Remote (US-only)

We're building an AI-powered platform that helps sports media teams work smarter. We're looking for a Staff Engineer to own critical systems across our stack - from edge infrastructure to AI-powered workflows to consumer-facing applications.

You'll work at the intersection of distributed systems, AI, and sports content. We need someone who can operate at all levels of the stack, drive technical direction, and can productively leverage AI tools to do so (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, etc.).

 About PressBox

PressBox empowers storytellers across Editorial, Content, Marketing, Broadcast, & Technology to deliver content that speaks to every fan. We sit at the forefront of a shift in how content is created, giving customers and their fans unprecedented control over their experience! Our technology powers some of the largest names in sports & media, delivering dynamic experiences across web, mobile, email, social, broadcast, audio, and video. We're assembling a small, high-leverage team to build a first-of-its-kind verticalized platform that is revolutionizing content and media operations. We value high-agency, low-ego partners who care deeply about shipping real value and are energized by solving unique, difficult problems.

 What You Will Be Doing

Distributed Systems

Design and scale our Cloudflare Workers architecture — Workflows for durable multi-step pipelines, Queues for worker-to-worker communication, R2 and KV for storage. Own performance and security: latency, serverless economics, and cross-tenant isolation across a fleet of production workers.

Multi-Tenant Platform

Scale our database-per-tenant architecture with migration orchestration across all tenants. Drive API design patterns consumed by our external partners.

Full-Stack Product Development

Ship features end-to-end across React Router and Hono APIs — from data model to polished UI. Own product features from database schema to type-safe API to user interface.

Infrastructure & Developer Experience

Build agentic development tools that speed up customer onboarding and feature development. Make pragmatic architectural decisions that balance velocity with maintainability.

AI-Powered Content Systems

Build feedback loops that connect human curation decisions back to model improvement.

 What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Someone who thrives in ambiguity and can drive both product and technical decisions.
  • Deep experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong TypeScript skills and comfort across frontend and backend.
  • LLM/AI integration experience (LangChain, prompt engineering, vector databases).
  • Track record of owning and scaling production systems.
  • Ability to drive technical direction while staying hands-on.

Bonus

  • Cloudflare experience — Workers, Workflows, Queues, R2, KV, etc.
  • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture experience.
  • SQLite (Turso) or distributed database experience.
  • Python experience.

 Tech Stack

Runtime:Cloudflare Workers, Workflows, Queues, R2, KV
External Services:Modal (serverless Python), AWS ECS
Frontend:React, React Router, Astro, Tailwind
Backend:Hono, OpenAPI, Drizzle ORM, Turso
AI:OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, Braintrust, Pinecone
Infra:LangSmith, Axiom, GitHub Actions, Sentry, PostHog, Clerk
